"I first contacted Silk Group in the autumn of 2009 to enquire about supplying some soft toy versions made of six characters called the Buggy Buddies that Hertfordhire County Council had comissioned a designer to create on our behalf. A small team was working on a pilot project with the aim of working with children aged 0-5 and encouraging them to walk more, enjoy their outside environment, and have fun at the same time with the help of the activity-based Buggy Buddies scheme which meets lots of objectives for young children including links to different learning outcomes, being happy and living an active, healthy lifestyle. Judith, our sales advisor, was enthusiastic about the scheme from the beginning and was able to give me lots of good advice and guidance. This was the first time I had commissioned bespoke soft toys and the experience has been an extremely positive one. Within a short timescale, I was in receipt of the first sample of the bugs which were close to perfect first-time, were very true to the original design of the bugs which was important to us and met all required British standards for this young age group. As well as ordering the bugs, we also purchased a whole range of other branded resources to complete the Buggy Buddies packs that go to all PVI settings, children's centres and childminders in Hertfordshire, including stickers, pencils, balloons, mugs, mini-shoppers for children to use to carry a bug home, height charts and resource boxes that hold all the items. They are all extremely useful products as well as being effective for promoting the scheme. Through the whole process, Judith and her studio colleagues ensured that we kept to timescales with orders, providing and approving artwork and so on, which was incredibly useful as everything had to be delivered in time for our big launch event and, with other work pressures, this was invaluable to me as a client. She understood what we were trying to achieve with Buggy Buddies taking a genuine interest in the project and sent me ideas and suggestions without being asked - such as the mini shoppers - and generally provided a professional service that was beyond expectations. It has been a real pleasure to work with Judith and the team at Silkgroup and I would not hesitate to use them again. We have had fantastic feedback about the Buggy Buddies soft toys and other items and, as a local authority we feel very proud of what we have achieved in a relatively short amount of time. Silk Group Promotional Products Success Short Breaks is the new name for respite for children and young people who are disabled, and gives them the opportunity to enjoy activities away from their main carer. Short breaks are part Aiming High for Disabled Children (AHDC). Better Support for Families, which was published in 2007 and is based on the Government’s review of services for disabled children. Lincolnshire was successful in their application for funding to develop their short breaks programme which was launched in June 2010. The Short Breaks solutions group have commissioned a range of activities for young people who are disabled. The activities include dance and drama clubs, music, sport, archery and horse riding, after school clubs, buddying and mentoring and sitting services. We have a health team who will work with the activity provider and the young person and their family to make sure that the activity is tailored to meet the specific needs of the young person, and they can also support and advise parent/carers and the activity provider on how to prepare the child before beginning the activity – particularly if this is new to them and they are anxious about it. The Lincolnshire County Council Children with Disabilities Service commissioned Silk Group to produce promotional material for the launch of their Short Breaks programme. We have been delighted with the products that were designed and produced for us. They include excellent quality Jute bags with our Short Breaks Identity on them and contact information about short breaks, coasters and mouse mats, and brightly coloured pens; all with the short breaks identity on them. The products were given out at the Short Breaks stand in the County Council area of the Lincolnshire Annual Show. They were hugely popular and in much demand. They have also been given to delegates at a number of other events where they have been received equally as positively.. Silk group have been excellent to deal with being both responsive to customer need and reliable in their service. Tracey, our sales advisor, was knowledgeable about the products, gave great advice, and dealt with any queries immediately. The sales and design team presented as enthusiastic and committed. We are delighted with the products and will no doubt return for more and use the services of Silkgroup again.
